Shooting in Siepraw: ex-partner shot woman, then died
A 47-year-old man shot his former partner outside her home in Siepraw. Criminal proceedings were already underway against the man for threatening behaviour.
Investigators examine circumstances of shooting near Myślenice
On Friday in Siepraw near Myślenice, a 47-year-old man fired at least one shot from a black-powder firearm at his former partner, wounding her in the jaw and leg area. According to Interia, the 45-year-old woman herself alerted the services — reporting that the man was causing a disturbance and threatening her outside her home.
After firing the shots, the attacker shot himself. Despite resuscitation attempts, his life could not be saved. The wounded woman was taken to hospital; doctors assessed her condition as stable. The couple had not lived together for some time, and the woman had previously had her former partner removed from the flat in Siepraw.
Prosecution close to pressing charges
Interia established that criminal proceedings were already underway against the 47-year-old — initiated in early 2026 at the Myślenice Prosecutor's Office on the basis of a report concerning threats directed at the 45-year-old.
Tomasz Waszczuk, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor's Office in Kraków, told Interia that the case was nearly concluded.
"The materials were practically complete. Evidence was gathered that would have allowed an indictment to be filed against this man in court. The case was literally at the finishing stage," Waszczuk said.
The spokesperson also confirmed that the Blue Card procedure was not implemented in the case.
47-year-old's car secured near scene
Authorities found the perpetrator's vehicle at some distance from the woman's home. The prosecutor inspected the vehicle and secured items found in it.
"Various items were secured there. Investigations will be conducted," Waszczuk said.
The spokesperson did not disclose details of all secured items, noting that they have no direct connection to the incident itself.
"As for where the man obtained the firearm and all the circumstances, we will be establishing that," the prosecutor added.
Investigators are now clarifying the exact sequence of events from Friday, including the circumstances in which the 47-year-old appeared near his former partner's home.
