A CBŚP police officer was struck by a car during an operation in Żory. In response, shots were fired; a woman and man with narcotics were arrested.

Police officer struck by car, shots fired – overnight CBŚP operation in Żory

The incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 22:00 on Osiedla Pawlikowskiego in Żory in Silesia. According to RMF24, officials from the Central Investigation Bureau of Police attempted to stop a vehicle when the driver struck one of the officers.

In response to being struck, the officer used his service weapon, firing shots at the fleeing car in order to immobilise it. The vehicle was stopped. Paweł Żukiewicz from the CBŚP press team reported that the car contained two people – a 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman – as well as narcotics.

The officer who was struck sustained minor injuries. He was given first aid at the scene; hospitalisation was not necessary.

Sub-Inspector Bogusława Kobeszko from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Rybnik confirmed in conversation with PAP that the operation involved detectives from Rybnik and officers from the CBŚP in Opole. The matter is being conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Rybnik; procedural actions are ongoing.
