A court in Bielsko-Biała has decided to place a 24-year-old Ukrainian citizen in three-month remand in custody, according to information provided to Google News PL — Crime (pl). The man is suspected of involvement in two assaults that occurred at the end of June.
According to investigators' findings, on 28 June in the early morning hours, three Ukrainian citizens attacked a 27-year-old Pole in the city centre. The victim had previously drawn the attackers' attention to their disturbance of night-time peace. The man was assaulted twice within a span of several minutes.
The injured party suffered a fractured nasal bone and other injuries affecting bodily functions for a period longer than seven days. In parallel, the prosecution was investigating a second case – an assault that occurred the day before, with the victim being a Ukrainian citizen who suffered less serious injuries.
Detained Vladyslav K. heard two charges. He admitted to the assault on his fellow countryman, but denied involvement in the attack on the 27-year-old Pole. For both alleged offences, he faces up to five years imprisonment.
Two other suspects remain at large. One of them has left for Ukraine, whilst the other is being sought. Investigators are conducting operations jointly with the Border Guard in order to establish his whereabouts.
