Huberta B.'s Volkswagen Golf to undergo expert examination – victim autopsy concluded
The vehicle of the perpetrator of the Kraków tragedy will be subjected to comprehensive testing. The autopsy of the two victims of the accident on ul. Solna has been completed, but the results are not being disclosed.

Huberta B.'s Volkswagen Golf, which was involved in a fatal accident in Kraków, has been handed over to expert examination – according to Google News PL. Investigators have ordered comprehensive testing of the vehicle, including analysis of wheel behaviour at the moment before collision and data from the electronic control unit EDR, referred to as the car's "black box".
"The vehicle has been handed over to expert examination," prosecutor Tomasz Waszczuk, spokesman for the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Kraków, told o2.pl. Investigators do not rule out that contact with the vehicle manufacturer may prove necessary.
The tragedy occurred on Saturday, 22 August, at approximately 18:00. 26-year-old Hubert B. was driving a Volkswagen Golf when he drove into a couple of pedestrians with a child at the intersection of ul. Solna and ul. Nadwiślańska. A 32-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man died in hospital. Both left behind their 8-month-old son, who is still fighting for his life.
According to the prosecutor's findings, Hubert B. was travelling at approximately 70 km/h in a zone with a speed limit of 30 km/h. Investigators have not yet confirmed witness statements, according to which the driver may have accelerated sharply or caused the vehicle to skid out of control.
Black box and dash cam footage
The EDR control unit records data concerning speed and wheel behaviour during driving. These are precisely the pieces of information that could show whether the 26-year-old accelerated the 333 horsepower vehicle immediately before impact.
The Prosecutor's Office did not directly comment on footage from the moment of the accident. Wirtualna Polska reported that investigators possess such material and plan to analyse it. According to information obtained unofficially by o2.pl, important information may also be contained in recordings from dash cameras installed inside the Volkswagen – these are also to be handed over to expert examination.
Autopsy completed, results kept confidential
Investigators confirmed that the autopsy of the accident victims, which began on Tuesday, 25 August, has been completed. The Prosecutor's Office is not disclosing even preliminary examination results, citing the interests of the ongoing proceedings.
Hubert B. was charged with causing an accident resulting in death, which carries a sentence of up to 8 years imprisonment. The man gave a statement to the prosecutor and did not admit to the charges against him. He stated that he lost control of the vehicle due to the condition of the road surface on the bend.
