On 8 July, police officers from the local police headquarters conducted an operation against drug dealers. As a result, two city residents came into the hands of investigators.

The operation began with the arrest of a 28-year-old man who was just leaving a residential building. Officers found a small batch of prohibited substances on him — approximately 6 grammes. During further proceedings, it emerged that the man had purchased them from one of the flats in the same block.

Investigators searched the premises occupied by the 32-year-old dealer. Inside, significantly larger supplies were discovered: marijuana containing THC, amphetamine, ecstasy tablets and 3-MMC. The total weight of the goods exceeded half a kilogramme, more precisely — over 650 grammes.

The District Prosecutor's Office in Bełchatów applied for the arrest of the older of the two detained men. The court accepted the application and decided on a three-month detention of the suspect in custody. He faces up to ten years in prison for distributing and storing a significant quantity of drugs.

The younger of the two men — the buyer — was charged with possession of intoxicating substances. The prosecutor imposed police supervision on him. In this case, the criminal code provides for a penalty of up to 3 years imprisonment.
