Law enforcement officers from the Kruszyno station have detained a young man from Warta Bolesławiecka gmina. The twenty-three-year-old had previously received a sentence from the courts in the form of unpaid work for the benefit of the local community for previous property-related offences.

After completing another day of tasks, instead of walking home, he decided to use someone else's mode of transport. He selected a bicycle left unattended in front of a facility. He then cycled in the direction of his residence.

To cover his tracks, he disposed of the vehicle at a distance from his own registered address. Convinced that such an action would protect him from discovery, he did not anticipate the effectiveness of the officers' actions.

His efforts proved futile. Officers quickly tracked down the perpetrator, and the stolen bicycle was returned to its rightful owner.

During the preparatory proceedings, the man was accused of appropriating someone else's property. This carries a penalty of up to five years in prison. The matter will soon be taken up by the court.

Data comes from a statement by Dolnośląska Police.
