Man confessed to the crime

Police have detained a 32-year-old man suspected of murdering a 53-year-old woman in Warsaw's Ochota district, the Metropolitan Police Command announced on Monday. The remains were discovered in the victim's flat in an advanced state of decomposition, hidden in a large shopping bag.

The detention took place on Saturday. The man confessed to committing the crime and was brought to the prosecutor's office, where charges were brought against him. The victim and the detainee are Polish nationals who knew each other previously.

How the body was discovered

Police assistance at the entrance to the flat was requested by a woman who had received a warning from her former partner not to enter the flat — as explained by the spokeswoman of the Metropolitan Police Command, sergeant Jacek Wiśniewski. Officers, upon entering the flat, discovered the remains in a large shopping bag.

According to RMF FM's findings, the body was already in an advanced state of decomposition. Based on preliminary information, the suspect and the deceased knew each other, however, owing to the interests of the investigation, police did not disclose the nature of their acquaintance — reported Polsat News.
