Warsaw police detain two couriers with cocaine worth 3 million zloty
Two men aged 48 and 46 have been detained in Warsaw with over 10 kilograms of cocaine hidden in double-walled vehicle panels. The drugs were being smuggled from Spain.

Two men have been detained in Warsaw whilst transporting over 10 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated value of nearly 3 million zloty in a car. Officers from the Wola district police headquarters had been observing the vehicle since the German border.
Police specialising in combating drug smuggling from Western Europe identified a Renault car as one that could be transporting illegal substances from the Iberian Peninsula. The vehicle had been under surveillance from the moment it entered Poland.
In the capital, both suspects were apprehended. At their vehicle, officers discovered hidden compartments built between layers of car bodywork panelling. Inside lay over ten tightly sealed bags containing white powder. Laboratory analysis confirmed it to be cocaine.
During a search of the home of the older detainee, officers discovered an additional approximately 50 grammes of the same substance as well as mobile phones used to organise the transport.
According to Rzeczpospolita, both men had previous criminal records. In the past they had already served prison sentences and were being sought by law enforcement authorities.
The Warsaw-Praga Południe District Prosecutor's Office charged them with acquiring a significant quantity of narcotics within the EU. This carries a sentence of three to twenty years in prison. The older suspect also faced a separate charge of possessing narcotics, punishable by up to three years in prison. The court ordered the three-month remand in custody of both men.
