Arrest involving drugs and firearms in Warsaw flat

Officers from Ursynów Police Station in Warsaw arrested a 43-year-old man at whose flat they found over 5 kilograms of drugs, two firearms, ammunition and over 120,000 zlotys in cash. Following a request from the prosecutor's office, a court imposed a three-month custodial remand on the suspect. The charges he faces carry a potential prison sentence of up to 12 years.

According to mokotow.policja.gov.pl, the arrest took place during checkpoint control operations conducted by the Investigation and Patrol Division of Ursynów Police Station. Officers noticed the driver's behaviour aroused suspicion, and the smell of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. A narcotics test indicated the presence of cocaine. A sobriety test did not confirm alcohol consumption, though blood samples were sent for further testing.

Police officers found small quantities of marijuana in the car and on the man's person. The discovery of drugs prompted an expansion of operations. The Criminal Division established the suspect's actual place of residence and carried out investigative activities prior to a search of the flat.

The seized substances included marijuana, amphetamine, methamphetamine, mephedrone, cocaine, heroin, hashish, and products containing ketamine and MDMA. Officers found a modified gas pistol with a silencer classified as a particularly dangerous weapon and a shotgun in the flat. Police secured 46 rounds of ammunition for a short firearm and 100 rounds for the shotgun. Both firearms bore traces of serial numbers having been removed. The man did not possess the required permit for firearms. Over 2,000 euros and a forged police badge were also found in the flat.

The prosecutor's office presented the 43-year-old with charges relating to possession of a substantial quantity of intoxicating substances and psychotropic drugs, participation in drug trafficking, possession of firearms and ammunition without a permit, driving under the influence of cocaine, and forging a police badge. Officers will be establishing the origin of the seized items and identifying individuals involved in drug trafficking. The case is being handled by the District Prosecutor's Office Warsaw – Ursynów.
