Wolsztyn: 10 months imprisonment for drink-driving with lifetime driving ban

Drink-driving with lifetime ban: verdict in expedited proceedings
According to wielkopolska.policja.gov.pl, on 31 May 2026 at approximately 20:30, officers from the Prevention Division on duty in Wolsztyn pulled over a Skoda driving along Prusa Street without its lights on for a road check.
At first contact with the driver, police detected alcohol. A breathalyser test confirmed a state of deep intoxication — 1.29 mg/l of alcohol in exhaled air, which corresponds to 2.71 per mille in the blood.
Behind the wheel was a 36-year-old resident of Karpicko. After entering his details into the police information system, officers established that the man was subject to a lifetime ban on driving motor vehicles, issued by the District Court in Pleszew.
The detainee was taken to custody at the Police County Headquarters in Wolsztyn. Several hours later, his case was heard in expedited proceedings.
The court sentenced the 36-year-old to unconditional imprisonment for 10 months. The man was charged with driving a vehicle while intoxicated and in violation of a court-issued driving ban.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered the forfeiture of the vehicle to the state treasury. An obligation to pay a fine of 10,000 zlotys to the Fund for the Assistance of Victims and Post-Penitentiary Assistance was also imposed. The man was also charged with the costs of court proceedings.
