Murder of 19-year-old in Mszana Górna — suspect's aunt: "I don't believe he did it"
On 15 June, 19-year-old Kacper W. murdered his ex-girlfriend, 19-year-old Magdalena Dz., with a sharp instrument outside her home in Mszana Górna, before taking his own life. The teenager's aunt tells fakt.pl that she saw no warning signs.

According to fakt.pl, on Monday 15 June at approximately 22:06 in Mszana Górna, 19-year-old Kacper W. attacked his ex-girlfriend, 19-year-old Magdalena Dz., with a sharp instrument outside her home. The woman died at the scene. The following day, police found Kacper W.'s body in a nearby forest — on Góra Spyrkowa, in the Niedźwiedź district, approximately 2 km from the crime scene. He had taken his own life.
— I can confirm that the man found in the forest is the previously sought Kacper W., who the previous day inflicted wounds with a sharp instrument on a 19-year-old woman in Mszana Górna. Nothing indicates the involvement of third parties — fakt.pl was told by Warrant Officer Jolanta Batko, police spokesperson in Limanowa.
The investigation is being conducted by police in Limanowa under the supervision of the prosecutor. In the coming days, the prosecutor has ordered post-mortem examinations of both victims.
"He was a good, cheerful child"
The editorial team at fakt.pl reached out to Kacper W.'s family. His aunt, 70-year-old Barbara, cannot come to terms with what happened. She learned about the tragedy when a helicopter began circling above the homes and there was increased activity from emergency services in the area.
— He was a good, cheerful child. Really. He never walked past my house indifferently. He always said good morning, he was always helpful and smiling — says Barbara, visibly moved.
The woman emphasises that she did not notice any disturbing signals in her nephew. — I didn't see any signs of a breakdown in him. He didn't complain. He laughed, he helped out. I really don't know what happened, what made him commit such terrible acts. That's at least what people are saying — she adds.
At the same time, she admits she finds it difficult to believe the investigators' findings. — I don't believe at all that he did it. People are saying he's a murderer, my goodness. I still saw him on Monday morning as he was going to work, he worked in construction, he was smiling — she recounts.
Break-up in early May
Kacper and Magdalena were together for at least three years, having met while still in secondary school. According to information provided to fakt.pl, the break-up occurred in early May this year. Friends of the young man had previously suggested that he could not come to terms with the end of the relationship.
— It seems she was the one who broke up with him. I don't know if he suffered so much from it… I can't understand this — says Kacper's aunt.
Barbara emphasises that since finishing school, her nephew had worked professionally in construction and had not confided his personal problems to her. — I didn't meddle in their affairs. All I saw was them walking together, talking. She was a decent girl, sometimes she would be here at his place — she adds.
Neighbours: "He was withdrawn, we didn't keep in contact"
The picture of Kacper painted by neighbours differs from his aunt's account. One of the residents of the area describes him as a withdrawn person.
— He was withdrawn… we didn't keep in contact with each other. He didn't even always say good morning — says a neighbour of the W. family.
The same woman characterises the family as peaceful, average residents of the area. — The father works abroad, the mother besides Kacper also has a daughter. They're rather quiet people — she adds. — A terrible tragedy occurred… a tragedy for two families.
None of Kacper W.'s neighbours or close relatives identified signals that could have foretold a mounting crisis in the young man.
Another loss in the family
For Kacper's family, the tragedy is doubly painful. Barbara reveals that just two months before the incident, she buried her own mother — Kacper's grandmother.
— Two months ago I buried my mother, that is Kacper's grandmother, now we'll have to bury him. I can't come to terms with this. It's all terrible — says the teenager's aunt.
Mszana Górna is still unable to recover from the tragedy. The motive for the crime and the exact course of events are to be established during further investigation.
