On Thursday, 9 July, just before midnight, the body of a 29-year-old woman was found on wasteland in Jędrzejów. The duty officer at the local police station received a report of a person showing no signs of life.
Officers who arrived at the scene attempted to save the victim's life. A paramedic crew took over resuscitation efforts, but the woman could not be saved.
Initial investigations indicated that a third party was involved in the victim's death. The district commander declared an alert for the unit, and support was brought in from Kielce – including from the Provincial Police Command and the Prevention Division.
Approximately 150 officers participated in the search, supported by tracking dogs and unmanned aircraft. As a result of work at the scene, a suspect was identified. A 19-year-old resident of Jędrzejów district was arrested overnight, according to Commanding Officer Damian Janus from the press office of the Provincial Police Command in Kielce.
For many hours, an investigation and prosecution team worked at the scene under the supervision of the prosecutor's office and forensic technicians. Evidence was gathered and people who might have knowledge of the event were questioned.
Unconfirmed speculation about a sexual motive appeared online, which the authorities have not confirmed so far. The spokesperson for the District Prosecutor's Office in Kielce, Daniel Prokopowicz, informed the PAP that evidence gathering is ongoing. Activities involving the arrested person are scheduled for Saturday.
This is the third murder in the Świętokrzyskie region in less than a month. At the end of June, an 80-year-old man was killed by knife blows in Mierzawa, and in early July, a 64-year-old woman was killed in Borków.
