On Monday, 24 August, in the locality of Skalin in West Pomeranian Voivodeship, the remains of a 42-year-old woman were discovered. According to Google News PL, the body was noticed by a neighbour, who immediately alerted the authorities.

The District Prosecutor's Office in Gryfice confirmed the detention of the victim's son. "The body was noticed by a neighbour, who raised the alarm with the services," said prosecutor Krzysztof Mejna. The man is suspected of killing his mother with an axe, which according to the investigation has been secured as a murder weapon.

The tragedy occurred in the late afternoon hours. The 21-year-old was sober at the time of his detention, according to Radio Szczecin.

Investigators are gathering evidence and questioning witnesses. The detained man had not been formally charged at the time of publication. Questioning is scheduled for Wednesday.

At this stage of the proceedings, the prosecutor's office is not disclosing information about the motives for the crime.
