Bodies in waterway led to murder charges
According to opolska.policja.gov.pl, on 3 March 2026, Kluczborg police received a report of a man's body found in a waterway leading to a municipal pond in Wołczyn. The victim was a 37-year-old resident of the town. Officers immediately began detailed examination of the scene, securing forensic evidence, CCTV footage and other evidence materials.
Kluczborg detectives detained two men the same day — aged 20 and 25. Both had been evading police: the younger was found in the basement of a residential building, the older was hiding in the woods in a hunting stand. Initially both were charged with assault.
Intensive operational work conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Opole enabled investigators to establish new circumstances of the incident. Thorough analysis of all gathered evidence materials provided grounds for changing the legal classification of the act. Both men were charged with the murder of the 37-year-old and admitted to committing it.
The gathered evidence materials made it possible to draw up an indictment. The case was referred for consideration by the District Court in Opole. Murder carries a sentence of up to life imprisonment.
