The prosecutor's office is investigating the circumstances of the death of a forty-year-old man who died in a medical facility after being detained by officers in Zabrze. The man had previously attacked law enforcement.

Over the weekend in the Makoszowy district, police officers responded to a call concerning a quarrel in a flat. According to reports from those who called, the forty-year-old was behaving aggressively and may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
At the scene, officers found the man in a state of severe agitation. He did not comply with commands, threatened to kill, and lunged at law enforcement. One officer sustained eye injuries.
Due to the scale of the threat, additional units were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, the situation was brought under control and the aggressor was placed in an ambulance. In the vehicle, his condition began to deteriorate – he lost consciousness. He was taken to hospital, where despite resuscitation attempts, he died.
Prosecutors are now conducting an investigation into the causes of death. They have ordered an autopsy, which is intended to provide an answer to the question of what directly led to his death. Simultaneously, the police command has launched an internal review to check whether the actions taken by officers were in accordance with regulations.
