An incident involving a public transport vehicle occurred in Iława in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship. A 45-year-old bus driver was apprehended by law enforcement officers after amphetamine was discovered in his cab.

A report was made to the duty officer by citizens who observed that the vehicle first struck a roadside sign and then drove onto the pavement several times. The people suspected that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A sobriety test, however, showed no alcohol in the breath sample. Despite this, the man was unable to provide a coherent explanation of how the incident had occurred.

Eighteen people were travelling inside the bus. Fortunately, nobody was injured.

– Blood was taken for analysis in order to determine whether he was driving under the influence of psychoactive substances, the local police headquarters reported on Monday. The decision to take a sample was made after narcotics were discovered in the cab.

Police officers suspended the man's driving licence. He was charged with possession of intoxicating substances. Further charges will be decided on the basis of laboratory results.
