A 47-year-old territorial defence soldier doused his son's colleague with petrol and set him on fire. The victim is in a life-threatening condition, and the brigade commander has decided to discharge the perpetrator.

According to wiadomosci.gazeta.pl, the commander of the 2 Lublin Territorial Defence Brigade has decided to dismiss the soldier from service following an incident on 31 May, in which the 47-year-old doused his son's colleague with petrol and set him on fire.
According to Marcin Kozak, prosecutor at the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, the incident occurred during a quarrel. The suspect also allegedly obstructed the provision of assistance to the victim. The victim was taken to hospital with extensive burns to his body, and his condition was classified as life-threatening.
The perpetrator was detained after a short chase. At the time of apprehension, he was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, according to media reports. The investigation is being conducted by the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, Military Division, which is continuing investigative activities.
The Territorial Defence Force confirmed that the detainee was serving in the territorial military service in the 2 Lublin Territorial Defence Brigade, and stressed that the incident was unrelated to the performance of service duties or the execution of military tasks.
"Regardless of the ongoing investigation, the commander of the 2 Lublin Territorial Defence Brigade has decided to discharge the soldier from territorial military service," according to a statement from the Territorial Defence Force.
The formation emphasised that in its ranks "there is no place for conduct that damages the good reputation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, the military uniform and the values that should characterise a soldier". Due to the interests of the proceedings, the military has not provided further information at this time.
