Zondacrypto under scrutiny: €432 million debt and the fall of a speculation guru
An Estonian court has established that the Polish cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto is burdened with debt reaching 432 million euros – according to Google News PL, citing money.pl's findings.
The matter concerns one of Poland's largest cryptocurrency platforms. According to the disclosed court documents, the scale of the company's financial liabilities is significantly greater than was previously reported publicly.
In connection with the case, Rafał Z. has been arrested, described by media as a "speculation guru". Business Insider Polska describes his story as a dramatic fall – from a recognised figure in the investor community to a person arrested by law enforcement.
Hundreds of the exchange's clients are meanwhile fighting to recover their invested funds. One of the victims, Paweł, quoted by Newsweek, says that since Zondacrypto's problems began, he has been unable to sleep, has lost weight and is unable to work normally. "It's a mistake that costs" – this is how clients quoted by Fakt sum up the situation.
The case has an international dimension – proceedings are taking place before a court in Estonia, where part of the platform's operations are registered. Polish law enforcement authorities are also engaged in the investigation.
