Aguada man accused of assaulting elderly mother and niece

A 52-year-old resident of the municipality of Aguada is under judicial process after the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Aguadilla area filed two criminal charges against him. He is accused of physically assaulting his own mother, a 74-year-old woman, and a niece of his.

According to details provided by Telemundo Puerto Rico, the reported incidents took place near eleven o'clock at night last Friday in a house located in the Guaniquilla Parcelas Novoa sector, within the same western municipality.

Authorities indicate that the man allegedly struck the elderly woman repeatedly in various parts of her body. When this man's niece attempted to end the beating, she also received blows.

The court determined that there were sufficient elements to proceed with the case and set bail at ten thousand dollars. Unable to cover that amount, the accused was transferred to a correctional facility.

The investigation was conducted by officer Lilly Ruiz Otero, who acted under the direction of sergeant Alberto López Galloza in that jurisdiction.
