Altar with bone remains found at Moca residence during investigation into gender-based violence
According to telemundopr.com, police on Thursday are investigating the discovery of skeletal remains of possible human origin inside a residence in Moca, Puerto Rico.
Authorities attended the scene following a report of gender-based violence: a 23-year-old woman allegedly struck her partner, a 38-year-old man.
The woman herself alerted officers to the fact that her partner kept an altar with what she described as human bones in one of the rooms of the residence.
The man, for his part, maintained that the remains are part of his religious beliefs and that he obtained them through an internet website. He further argued that the complaint against him was undermined by the discovery.
The skeletal remains will be transferred to the Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF) to determine their origin, whilst police continue to lead the investigation.
