Man arrested in Guaynabo for $693 fraudulent cheque in connection with Santini assault
Zenen Vega Torres, 30, was detained on Saturday at Oriental Bank in San Patricio Plaza whilst attempting to cash a fraudulent cheque. The suspect is already facing charges related to the assault on former mayor Jorge Santini.

Agents from the Juan Domingo precinct arrested Zenen Vega Torres, 30, on Saturday morning after he allegedly attempted to cash a false cheque for $693.05 at an Oriental Bank branch in San Patricio Plaza, Guaynabo, according to telemundopr.com.
Vega Torres is also the man publicly identified as the suspected assailant of former San Juan mayor Jorge Santini in an incident that occurred in March 2026. The Department of Justice confirmed at that time the filing of charges related to that assault.
In the banking case, agents from the Bank Robbery Division are taking steps to consult the file with the Bayamón Prosecutor's Office and determine whether formal charges will be filed. Agent Ortiz, badge 753, is in charge of the proceedings. A decision on the filing of charges was expected for Saturday evening.
Vega Torres remains under arrest while the process continues.
