According to primerahora.com, authorities filed misdemeanour charges against Tasherelys Escalera O'ffarill, 33, for disorderly conduct, damage to property and assault, following a traffic dispute that occurred on Saturday night on highway PR-190 in Carolina.

The other person involved, Irmalis Colón Rivera, 25 and pregnant, was the victim of the incident. It is alleged that Escalera O'ffarill physically assaulted her, used obscene language towards her and struck Colón Rivera's vehicle several times with her own car.

Colón Rivera recorded the incident with her mobile phone and uploaded the video to social media, where the incident went viral. Officers from the Carolina Municipal Police initiated an investigation of the case.

Prosecutor Carlos Peña Ramos, from the Carolina District Attorney's Office, filed the corresponding charges. Escalera O'ffarill was presented before Judge Annette Santiago Díaz, of the Investigations Department of the Court of First Instance in Carolina, who determined probable cause for arrest. The amount of bail was not reported, nor whether the defendant was able to post it.
