Double murder in Arecibo: three masked assailants open fire, leaving two wounded

Two dead and two wounded in overnight shooting in Arecibo
Three masked individuals opened fire on the night of Tuesday against a group seated on the roadside in the Barrancas sector, Hato Abajo neighbourhood, in Arecibo, leaving two people dead and two others wounded, according to elvocero.com.
The attack occurred around 11:25 at night. A vehicle came to a stop at the location, from which the three assailants descended and fired at those present. Captain Carlos Vélez, director of the CIC in Arecibo, indicated this morning that the two wounded are out of danger of death.
Vélez described the location as a habitual gathering point where there are chairs and drug users frequently congregate. The authorities are working on the identification of the victims, of whom it is known that one had a criminal record for drug-related cases. Officers are attempting to review security cameras in the sector to identify the perpetrators.
The shooting in Arecibo occurred approximately an hour and a half after police found the body of a man with bullet wounds in the rear of a 2019 Hyundai Tucson van, parked on Angora Street, in the Puerto Nuevo neighbourhood, in San Juan. The victim had not been identified until the following morning. The vehicle, without lien, is registered in the name of a woman resident of the Cambalache neighbourhood, in Canóvanas. The investigation of that case is being handled by agents of the San Juan CIC.
Combined with these three deaths along with the one recorded early that same day in the Buen Consejo neighbourhood, in Río Piedras, the total murders reported by police during the year reaches 318, two more than for the same date in 2018.
