Dominican handed to US after operation with more than 30 raids
According to almomento.net, David Armando Brito Brito, alias "El Jamaqueo", was extradited to Puerto Rico where he faces charges of drug trafficking, money laundering and other offences. The handover was carried out to United States officials at Las Américas International Airport (AILA) in Santo Domingo.
The charges against him include conspiracy to import five kilogrammes or more of cocaine into the United States, possession of firearms, conspiracy to commit money laundering and membership in a criminal organisation.
Brito Brito had been captured in May of this year during Operation PT7, an operation in which more than 30 raids were executed simultaneously in the National District, Santo Domingo Este and La Altagracia.
The National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) stated that the capture and extradition are the result of joint work and continuous exchange of information between the Dominican Republic and the United States, a mechanism aimed at the detention of fugitives linked to drug trafficking, fraud, money laundering, homicides and other serious offences.
