A worker at a business dedicated to the sale and repair of tyres in the municipality of Trujillo Alto lost his life on Friday night after receiving multiple gunshots fired from a vehicle passing through the area. The violent incident occurred at around seven in the evening in the Dos Bocas sector, according to reporting by Telemundo Puerto Rico.
At the time of the attack, the man was working inside the shop. From a moving vehicle, the assailants opened fire on him. A customer who was waiting her turn at the establishment was also injured; she was subsequently taken to a hospital, where doctors said her health was in a stable condition.
Following the crime, police officers searched the victim's home, where they discovered a pistol without legal documentation and a large sum of cash in notes. These findings led authorities to consider the possibility that the death is connected to illicit activities linked to the trafficking of controlled substances.
Official sources confirmed that the deceased was a Dominican citizen who worked at the tyre shop. Although they did not reveal his identity publicly, it emerged that the individual had a prior criminal record.
The investigation of the case was placed under the responsibility of the Criminal Investigation Corps based in Carolina.
