A worker at an establishment dealing in the sale and repair of tyres lost his life on Friday night in circumstances that law enforcement is seeking to clarify. The man sustained multiple gunshot wounds fired from a motor vehicle that passed in front of the shop, located in the Dos Bocas sector of the municipality of Trujillo Alto.
The attack occurred at approximately 7:08 p.m., when the victim was carrying out his usual work inside the business. Witnesses indicated that the assailants were travelling in a vehicle and opened fire without getting out of it.
A customer waiting to be served was struck by the gunfire. Paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital, where doctors indicated she was recovering favourably and was not at vital risk.
Following the death, agents conducted a search of the deceased's home and found items that raised alarm among investigators: a pistol without legal carry permission and a substantial amount of cash. These findings led authorities to consider the possibility that the crime is linked to illicit activities connected to the drug trade.
The man, whose identity has not been revealed by officials, was originally from the Dominican Republic and had a record of previous arrests. His criminal history raises questions about whether the attack was motivated by revenge or a settling of scores between gangs.
The case fell under the responsibility of the Criminal Investigation Corps based in Carolina, whose detectives are gathering evidence and interviewing possible witnesses in order to identify those responsible for the homicide.
