A call alerted authorities to gunshots in the area of the public housing complex. When agents arrived at the scene, they found the bullet-riddled body of a man; another individual, also shot, was transported to a hospital. The case was placed under the responsibility of the Homicide Division of the Criminal Investigations Corps of San Juan.
