A 39-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Sunday after allegedly stealing a vehicle that police were holding in custody at Police Station 566 in Santurce, according to telemundopr.com.

According to authorities, the vehicle in question is a 2019 Nissan Kicks SR that officers had seized on 12 September for reflecting a missing title lien and improper use. The vehicle was transferred to the area designated for seized vehicles within the station.

At around 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, station personnel noticed that the vehicle was no longer in the location where it had been left. Following an investigation, authorities located the vehicle at approximately 1:20 a.m., within the grounds of the same station and in the suspect's possession.

The man was arrested on the spot. Officers from San Juan's Vehicle Theft Investigation Division are leading the investigation, and the case will be consulted with the on-duty prosecutor to determine potential charges.
