The body of a 28-year-old transgender woman was found in the early hours of Monday among vegetation in the municipality of Toa Baja, and investigations point to the possible involvement of four adolescents in the incident.

According to Univision, the inquiry gained momentum when a recording circulated online that appeared to show the moment of the attack. In the material, voices of the attackers can be heard using vulgar expressions with homophobic content against the victim.

On digital platforms, the victim was identified as Alexa, a resident of the town of Carolina, although official agencies have not yet publicly validated these details.

For the time being, the agencies in charge have not classified the incident as a hate crime.

The source also indicates that shortly before the victim's death, staff from a fast-food establishment had an encounter with the woman.
