18-year-old man shot dead in Cataño; minor injured
Joseph Yadiel Vázquez Nazario, 18, was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on PR-5, at Puente Blanco, Cataño. A 17-year-old minor was also injured in the incident.
Homicide victim identified on Cataño's PR-5 highway
According to primerahora.com, authorities identified the young man shot dead Thursday afternoon as Joseph Yadiel Vázquez Nazario, 18, in the Puente Blanco area of Cataño.
The incident occurred at kilometre 2.5 of the PR-5 highway. A call to the Emergency Services 9-1-1 system reported what appeared to be an accident between a car and a motorcycle. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Vázquez Nazario's body with several gunshot wounds; he died at the scene.
As part of the investigation, police closed the section of PR-5 at Puente Blanco neighbourhood in both directions.
Related to the incident, a 17-year-old minor was shot and injured. The young man was initially transferred to a hospital in Cataño and subsequently sent to another medical centre. Authorities did not report on his condition.
Officer Francisco Alicea Díaz, of the Homicide Division of the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) in Bayamón, and prosecutor Carmen Iris Ortiz are heading the investigation.
