A joint action by authorities made it possible to apprehend 16 people in the northern zone, as part of an investigation into drug and weapons distribution, according to details provided by El Nuevo Día.
The raid was carried out this Wednesday, with Arecibo and nearby municipalities as the main location. Colonel Carlos Cruz, who heads special operations for the police force, was the one who provided the preliminary information.
The judicial warrants that were executed respond to charges of unlawful trafficking in narcotics and unauthorised possession of firearms.
By around 6:30 in the morning, the count was 16 arrested out of a total of 19 targets. The arrested individuals were taken to the Acrópolis complex in Manatí for processing. Additionally, an adolescent was taken into custody.
A press conference was expected to be held at 10:30 in the morning at the Police headquarters in Hato Rey, where more information about the results of the operation would be provided.
