Arrest warrant issued for shooting death in Río Piedras; bail set at $3 million

According to primerahora.com, Judge Ángel Rivera Miranda of the San Juan Court issued an arrest warrant with bail set at $3 million against Kenneth Zavala Esquilín, 22 years old, for first-degree murder and charges related to illegal use of firearms.
The investigation, conducted by officer Rafael Pérez Castrodad of the San Juan Homicides Division, determined that in the early morning hours of 22 August, Zavala Esquilín fired shots at Melvin Joel Algarín Nieves, 28 years old and a resident of Cataño. The attack occurred at the intersection of Del Parque Street with Padre Capuchino Street in Río Piedras.
The authorities attribute the crime to disputes and prior grievances between the parties. Prosecutor Barbara Pérez Santos filed charges in the absence of the accused, who remains at large.
