Tourist accused following assault on municipal police officers at Condado hotel
A tourist resident of Washington D.C. faces criminal charges after allegedly attacking two agents of the San Juan Municipal Police inside a hotel in Condado, according to elnuevodia.com.
Taytum A. Knight, 28, is accused of aggravated assault and the use of violence or intimidation against a public authority, in accordance with the Puerto Rico Police.
The events occurred on Sunday, 23 August at 6:50 p.m., when the manager of the Hilton Garden hotel in Condado alerted authorities about a person displaying aggressive behaviour within the establishment.
"Upon intervening with the person, she struck one of the police officers with an open hand on the neck and then bit another on the right arm whilst being transported to the cell," the police report states.
The case was referred to the San Juan District Attorney's Office, which ordered the filing of charges. The evidence was presented before Judge Dayra Zoet Infante Bosques, of the Court of First Instance of San Juan, who determined probable cause for arrest and set bail at $20,000.
Knight did not post bail, so she was processed and admitted to the Bayamón Women's Rehabilitation Complex. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for a date that has not yet been released.
