Arrested at Dragão during Champions League match
A Portuguese supporter was arrested on Tuesday at Estádio do Dragão in Porto during the FC Porto-Manchester City encounter, counting towards the first match day of the Champions League. The man had been banned from accessing sports venues since November 2025, and this was the first time he was caught violating the restriction, according to information released on Friday by the PSP, as reported by Correio da Manhã.
The ban was imposed by the Authority for the Prevention and Combat of Violence in Sport (APCVD), following inadequate behaviour recorded during the FC Porto-Sporting match, relating to the 21st match day of the Portuguese football league in the 2024/2025 season. The sanction was decreed for non-compliance with duties of correction, moderation and respect.
Crime of qualified disobedience
The breach of a ban on access to sports venues is liable to constitute the crime of qualified disobedience, punishable with imprisonment of up to two years or a fine of up to 240 days, under article 348 of the Penal Code, the PSP emphasises in the statement.
With this arrest, the total number of supporters intercepted for breaching measures banning access to sports venues rises to five since the start of the current sporting season.
