A 36-year-old man resident in Peso da Régua cut the electronic bracelet that kept him under house arrest and travelled to Lisbon with the intention of assaulting a victim. He was intercepted by PSP investigators before he could carry out the attack.

An individual of 36 years old, who was serving house arrest in Peso da Régua, decided to remove the electronic monitoring bracelet to travel to Lisbon and assault a person. PSP officers managed to intercept him before the attack took place.

The man was detained by investigators while still en route to the victim. The operation succeeded in preventing the suspect from carrying out the assault he had planned.

The case was reported by CMTV, which provided no further details about the victim's identity or about the motives that led the attacker to take this decision.

House arrest with an electronic bracelet is a coercive measure applied as a substitute for preventive detention, requiring strict compliance with rules regarding residence. Violation of these conditions constitutes a crime.
