Aggressor remanded in custody for new threats towards ex-wife in Alentejo
A 41-year-old man has been remanded in custody after, whilst at liberty with a suspended sentence for mistreatment of his ex-partner, breaching judicial prohibitions and again intimidating the victim with death threats. The arrest took place in Alandroal municipality, in Alentejo, and was carried out by the GNR. The Redondo Public Prosecutor's Office, cited by Correio da Manhã, classified the risk of re-victimisation as "high/extreme".
The couple shared a relationship between 2016 and October 2024 and have two minor children, aged 5 and 9 years old. In November 2025, Redondo Court had imposed on the aggressor a sentence of two years and two months' imprisonment, with execution suspended, for crimes of domestic violence against the same woman. At that time, the court had imposed various restrictions on him: he could not contact his ex-partner, had to maintain a minimum distance of 100 metres from her and of 500 metres from the victim's home.
Despite the restrictions imposed, the man sent the ex-partner electronic communications containing serious threats to her safety and life. The woman filed a complaint and, given the manifest danger, the security forces effected the arrest outside of flagrante delicto within a period of less than 48 hours.
