Assets seized from crime strengthen state fleets by 33 units
The Asset Management Office (GAB) transferred 33 vehicles and vessels for use by public bodies during 2025. These units were previously seized in the context of judicial proceedings and have now been allocated to state institutions.
Data provided by the Justice Ministry to Correio da Manhã show a 65 per cent increase in the transfer of this type of asset to public services compared to 2024. Last year, 20 vehicles and boats were allocated; this year, the number rose to 33.
The distribution included 16 cars and 17 vessels. In 2024, eight cars and 12 boats had been made available, which represents an increase of eight road vehicles and five maritime units.
The majority of these assets were allocated to courts, correctional facilities and the Maritime Police. The reuse of assets confiscated from criminals allows the state to renew its fleets without additional costs to taxpayers.
