Brazilian arrested on Costa de Caparica with PSP pistol and cocaine after attempting to run down GNR officer
A 38-year-old man was arrested by the GNR in Almada in possession of a Glock 19 seized by the PSP. The suspect attempted to run down an officer and assaulted other soldiers.

A 38-year-old man of Brazilian nationality was detained by the GNR at the Costa de Caparica post in Almada in possession of a Glock 19 pistol of 9 millimetre calibre and 16 rounds of ammunition. The weapon, as reported by Correio da Manhã, was seized by the PSP pending a criminal case and is of the same model distributed to Portuguese security forces.
The GNR patrol was called to the location following reports that the suspect was using a firearm in a domestic violence context. During the approach, the man attempted to run down one of the officers and assaulted other soldiers before being handcuffed.
In addition to the pistol and ammunition, authorities found cocaine in the possession of the detainee. The circumstances in which the suspect gained access to a weapon that should have been stored in a PSP safe are now under investigation.
