A twelve-month investigation culminated in the detention of five suspects accused of dealing in illicit substances in Lourinhã municipality. The operation was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Torres Vedras, from the Guarda Nacional Republicana.

The group targeted by the operation consisted of two male individuals and three female individuals, all aged between 19 and 51 years. After being heard at Loures Court, each was imposed with different restrictions: one of the defendants was placed in preventive custody, two others are subject to house confinement accompanied by electronic surveillance equipment, and the remaining two will have to present themselves regularly to the authorities.

Throughout the operation, officers executed several judicial warrants: five for the apprehension of persons without flagrante delicto, five for searches of residences and ten for inspections of other locations.

The material balance included the collection of more than 350 units of drugs — namely 280 of cocaine and 72 of crack — as well as 5,394 euros in cash, two motor vehicles, gold jewellery valued at approximately 70,000 euros, eight mobile phones, two television sets and equipment used in the weighing and packaging of narcotics.

The operation also mobilised elements from the Public Order Intervention Group and the Canine Intervention Group, both from the GNR, as well as officers from the Public Security Police.
