The Superior Council of the Judiciary will meet on this date to assess whether there is legal framework to initiate a disciplinary procedure in relation to judge Carlos Alexandre. The information was reported by television station SIC.
According to the channel, the magistrate is said to have published controversial opinions on social media. Among the contents in question are sarcastic observations about figures from the PS party, namely former prime minister António Costa and former deputy Helena Roseta.
Other publications under scrutiny include comments relating to the possible non-execution of Ricardo Salgado's sentence, following a diagnosis of Alzheimer's, and expressions such as "octopus at RTP and maharajas at public television administrators".
Carlos Alexandre became a public figure by presiding over some of the most high-profile court cases of recent years in Portugal, including cases related to 'Marquês', the collapse of 'BES' and suspicions surrounding 'EDP'.
