Arrest in Fundão for illegal cannabis cultivation
Authorities arrested a 53-year-old man in Fundão municipality, in the Cova da Beira area, due to the existence of a plot of land where cannabis was being cultivated.
The operation took place last Saturday, 27 June, when officers from the local Territorial Post of the GNR were conducting a surveillance patrol against drug trafficking and use. The officers spotted an agricultural field with plants of the aforementioned psychotropic substance.
Subsequent investigations at the site allowed authorities to identify the landowner as the presumed person responsible for the planting. Following the operation, agents collected 19 cannabis plants and a quantity of 78.64 grams of dried leaves.
The suspect was placed under arrest and the illicit product was seized. The case was sent to the Judicial Court of Fundão for subsequent legal proceedings.
