Man detained after fleeing PSP and throwing gun from window in Porto
A 21-year-old driver was arrested by PSP in the early hours of Monday in Porto after a chase of approximately two kilometres. Officers gave the vehicle a stop command on Avenida Fernão Magalhães at around 01:15, but the driver did not comply.
During the pursuit, one of the passengers threw a pistol from the car window. The weapon was subsequently found and recovered by the authorities. The vehicle lost control on Rua Aurélia de Sousa, colliding with a parked car. Only then did it stop.
The driver was captured at the scene. The other occupant abandoned the car and managed to evade on foot, and remains at large. The vehicle, which did not have insurance up to date and which allegedly changed owners recently, was seized.
PSP's Criminal Investigation Division took over the investigation and is now seeking to determine whether the car is linked to robberies or other crimes. No injuries were reported in the incident.
