Porto Diocese warns of email fraud using vicar-general's name

Fake email uses identity of vicar-general of Porto Diocese

Correio da Manhã reports that the Porto Diocese detected the circulation of a fraudulent message sent by email in the name of the vicar-general, Reverend António Coelho de Oliveira.

The message in question presents the following text: "Hello, I hope you are well. Are you available at the moment? I am in a meeting with some priests and can only communicate by email. I would like to speak to you about a matter; please reply as soon as you receive this message. Blessings, Cón. António Coelho de Oliveira."

The Porto Diocese clarified that "this communication is not authentic, having been sent from an email address unrelated to the Porto Diocese [[email protected]] and with no connection to the Vicar-General." The organisation recommends that the message be ignored and that no response be given to the address in question.
