Two men were arrested in Alcochete, in Setúbal district, as part of a police operation against drug trafficking, according to observador.pt. Authorities seized 30.75 kilograms of cocaine — equivalent to 153,750 doses — as well as two vehicles and 810 euros in cash.

The detainees, aged 36 and 59, were remanded in custody after being brought before a court for their initial judicial interrogation.

The operation, designated "White Shadow", was carried out on Wednesday by the Criminal Investigation Units of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police Command of Lisbon (Cometlis) of the Public Security Police (PSP).

"In the course of police investigations (…), evidence was identified capable of supporting well-founded suspicions of the offence of drug trafficking", the PSP stated in a statement.

Cometlis emphasised that the action is part of its permanent strategy for the prevention and suppression of drug trafficking, reaffirming "its commitment to detecting and repressing this criminal phenomenon, contributing to the reduction of the availability of illicit substances and to the strengthening of community security".
