The Judicial Police have detained two airport workers suspected of introducing cocaine into Europe by air. Drug valued at 110 kg and 200,000 euros were seized.
Operation Falcon shut down trafficking network at Lisbon Airport
The Judicial Police have detained two employees of Lisbon Airport suspected of being part of a criminal cocaine trafficking network, the police authority announced in a statement. According to observador.pt, the arrests took place as part of Operation Falcon, executed on Friday by the National Unit for Combating Drug Trafficking (UNCTE).
The two detainees, aged 48 and 46, are employees of service-provider companies at the airport and are suspected of facilitating the introduction of cocaine into the European continent via commercial flights from Latin America.
In the course of the operation, the authorities seized approximately 110 kilograms of cocaine, approximately 200,000 euros in cash, several vehicles and documents related to criminal activity.
The accused were brought before a judge for the first interrogation for the application of precautionary measures. The investigation is under the charge of the Lisbon Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP).
