FC Porto employees exercise right to silence in Guimarães brawl proceedings
Two FC Porto workers appeared on Thursday at Guimarães Court in connection with proceedings for participation in a brawl in the context of a sporting event, according to record.pt. The two defendants, a kit man for the main team and a fitness coach for the under-17 team, opted not to make statements about the facts being tried.
The two employees are identified by the publication as Francisco F., aged 28, and João S., aged 26. Along with 30 other defendants, they face charges of participation in a brawl in the context of a sporting event, damage, and throwing of objects.
The facts date back to 18 January this year, the date on which FC Porto travelled to Guimarães to face Vitória. According to the authorities, the group — associated with the casual movement — threw stones, bottles and terrace furniture at Vitória de Guimarães supporters. The episode resulted in the partial destruction of a terrace and at least two injured persons. One supporter was injured at the location, whilst others took refuge inside two commercial establishments.
