Two men, aged between 35 and 38, were arrested in flagrante delicto in Machico on suspicion of trafficking in narcotics, according to jm-madeira.pt. The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation Squad of the Machico Police Division, under the auspices of the Madeira Regional Command of the Public Security Police (PSP).

The investigation lasted approximately one year and nine months and targeted the trafficking of synthetic drugs in the municipality. According to the PSP, the activity was causing considerable public alarm, given the growing concern among the population about the phenomenon in that area.

During the course of residential and non-residential searches carried out, more than 52 grammes of synthetic drug known as "Bloom" and more than 12 grammes of "Gorby" were seized. In addition to the drugs, the authorities confiscated more than €68,000 in cash, 11 motor vehicles — including one high-end model — three mobile phones and a safe.

The two arrested men, both native to and residents of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, were brought before a first judicial interrogation. The court imposed upon them the measure of bail with an obligation to sign in and maintain residence.
