Two men detained for theft at Aveiro factory, copper cables recovered

Aveiro PSP detained two robbery suspects at a factory in a flagrante arrest, seizing eleven copper electrical cables worth five thousand euros.

Suspects caught leaving industrial facilities in Aveiro

The Criminal Investigation Squad of Aveiro PSP detained two men, aged 21 and 60, in flagrante delicto, on suspicion of robbing a factory in the municipality. According to Correio da Manhã, the defendants are to be brought before Aveiro's criminal instruction court on Monday, charged with the crime of aggravated theft.

The detention followed a report of an ongoing theft. Officers immediately travelled to the location and found the two men abandoning the industrial building.

Seized materials and recovered copper cables

In the possession of the suspects, the PSP seized various material capable of being used in criminal activity: gloves, a torch, two cutting pliers and a penknife. Two electric bicycles were also seized.

During investigations, officers located eleven copper electrical cables with an estimated value of five thousand euros in an agricultural field in the vicinity of the company. The goods were returned to the legitimate owner.

PSP reaffirms commitment to security

In a statement, the PSP guaranteed that it "maintains its commitment to the prevention and investigation of crime, acting swiftly and effectively in the protection of persons and property, contributing to the strengthening of community security".
