Agents from the Criminal Information Unit of the Judicial Police conducted an arrest in the Portuguese capital. The target was a foreign national, 31 years old, who had a pending arrest warrant for the execution of a six-year prison sentence.
The crimes that led to the conviction were aggravated rape and domestic violence, both qualified as serious offences. The Portuguese court issued the detention order, with the decision already final.
The individual has legally resided in national territory since 2020. During this period, he worked as a professional driver, with his migration status regularised with the competent authorities.
After being located and taken into custody, the detainee was transferred to a prison appropriate for the start of his sentence. The operation was conducted by the Judicial Police, as part of its functions in executing judicial warrants.
