Portuguese authorities have arrested a 39-year-old foreign national at Lisbon Airport following a European arrest warrant issued against him. The man is sought for alleged involvement in hashish trafficking in the country that requested his capture.

The arrest was made on Tuesday in the arrivals area of Terminal 1. During border controls carried out by PSP, officers verified that the individual was listed on the international wanted persons database, on suspicion of belonging to a criminal organisation dedicated to transporting large quantities of hashish.

The detainee will be brought before the Lisbon Court of Appeal, where preventative measures will be applied whilst he awaits extradition to the State requesting him.
